Origin and Impact of Flows in Fusion Plasmas

Generation and control of plasma flows and their effect

The workshop is hosted by the Austrian Association Euratom-ÖAW. Participation is open only to researchers of the European fusion programme who have been officially nominated by their Heads of Research Units.

The workshop will take place in the new Europahaus congress centre in the Alpine village of Mayrhofen, located in the scenic Zillertal valley in Tyrol, Austria.

Mayrhofen can be reached by air via Innsbruck airport (70 km distance), or Munich airport (200 km distance), and also by train via the Jenbach train station (30 km, connected to Mayrhofen by the local "Zillertal-Bahn" railway). Shuttle-bus transfer from and to the airports (not included in the registration fee) will be arranged for participants on the official arrival and departure days as requested on the registration forms. Accommodation and main meals for workshop participants will be provided at the Hotel Berghof (****) conveniently located right next to the congress centre.

WLAN access will be available in the congress centre and in the hotel lobby. 90 rooms for single accomodation (including double rooms for use with accompanying persons) in the hotel have been exclusively reserved for workshop participants. If necessary, additional accommodation will be available in directly neighbouring hotels.

Extra nights before or after the workshop can be arranged on request by the local organizers, but payment for this will have to be settled directly with the hotel.

Participation is open only to researchers of the European fusion programme who have been officially nominated. Delegates whose name has been communicated to the scientific workshop secretary (Lars-Göran Eriksson) by their Head of Research Unit until October 29th 2010 may fill in the registration form and send it to the LOC (c/o Siegbert Kuhn) either by fax (+43 512 507 2919 or 9898) or preferably by e-mail (Siegbert.Kuhn@uibk.ac.at).

The workshop fee is EUR 430,-. This fee covers a single room (or single-occupancy double room) at Hotel Berghof, coffee breaks in the Europahaus conference centre, and meals from dinner on Sunday, 5th December 2010, to lunch on Wednesday, 8th December 2010, including a gala dinner on Tuesday, 7th December 2010. Since very different modes of transport will apply, airport transfer costs are not included in the registration fee and are to be paid in cash seperately, with details to be announced in due course.

The fee should be paid until 5th November 2010 by bank transfer. Please be sure to quote the delegate (and accompanying-person) name(s) and "EFPW18" in the remitter's message to beneficiary, and make sure that the transfer costs are on your side.

The accompanying-person fee of EUR 200.- includes three-day accommodation in a double room, breakfast and dinners including the gala dinner (but no lunch). This fee is also to be paid by bank transfer along with the participant's registration fee. Various leisure activities for accompanying persons may be booked with the Mayrhofen tourist office. The local organizers will be happy to provide assistance on these issues.
